Home Remedies for Acne Scars
Natural methods for combating acne scars and other blemishes has become popular. Fortunately, there are some methods that can be used to eradicate these unsightly blemishes left behind by acne.
One of the most positive aspects about using natural home remedies is their low cost since most of the ingredients you need are probably already in your kitchen. The two negative aspects of home remedies are that the effects can take longer to notice and they can vary greatly from individual to individual. But patience, in this case, is a virtue.
How to Remove Scars with Natural Remedies
Before using any acne scars treatment, wash the area with plenty of warm water and always test out the product on a small area of skin to make sure that it does not produce irritation or an allergic reaction. Those people who have sensitive skin can always add a small amount of water to produce a diluted, more gentle version of the original product.
Garlic
Because garlic has so many health benefits, it is considered a wonder food. It has been used for many ailments including the treatment of acne scars. Nevertheless, if you choose to use garlic, take care to rinse the product off immediately if you feel any burning sensation.
For this natural remedy, grate a clove of garlic and add two tablespoons of water to form a paste. Apply the paste directly to the area and massage carefully. Leave the paste on your skin for no more than five minutes because the garlic will begin to remove a layer of scar tissue.
Because of the garlic's irritating properties, always apply aloe vera directly to the affected area right after you have rinsed off the paste. Aloe vera will rehydrate your skin and protect it without causing further irritation.
Honey and Coconut Oil
Honey and coconut oil can also be used to treat acne scars.
Honey is known to play a role in killing the bacteria that cause acne. By applying this product several times a day, your skin will begin to glow while your scars begin to fade. Each application should be kept on the area for 10 minutes and then rinsed off.
Coconut oil is also a good way to lighten up old scars. All you need to do is massage the affected area with coconut oil to reap its full benefits.
Lemons
Lemons have a bleaching effect that will lighten scars. At the same time, its high citric acid content will help cleanse and rejuvenate your skin.
Simply use one tablespoon of juice and apply it directly to the scar with a cotton ball. Allow it to set for ten minutes and then rinse it off. Be sure to apply sunscreen if you choose to use this home remedy, because lemon juice makes your skin more sensitive to sun damage.
It is advisable to used fresh natural products. Their canned versions contain preservatives and additives that might be harmful to your skin or might inhibit the full effect of the natural components.
Fortunately, natural remedies are an inexpensive way to deal with acne scarring and acne itself. Be aware, however, that any acne scar treatment will have varying results. Be patient and consistent to reap the benefits of home remedies for skin repair.
